Dans ce pr\u00e9sent travail, le proc\u00e9d\u00e9 a \u00e9t\u00e9 appliqu\u00e9 sur l\u2019acier S 355 J0 au moyen d\u2019un dispositif sp\u00e9cialement con\u00e7u et fabriqu\u00e9 \u00e0 cet effet. Les r\u00e9sultats exp\u00e9rimentaux ont r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 que l\u2019avance, la force de galetage et la vitesse de rotation sont les param\u00e8tres les plus significatifs sur la rugosit\u00e9 de surface. Le nombre de passes vient s\u2019ajouter aux autres param\u00e8tres de galetage qui influence d\u2019une fa\u00e7on significative la duret\u00e9. Une rugosit\u00e9 (Ra) de tournage de 2,5 \u00b5m a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9duite \u00e0 0,15 \u00b5m alors qu\u2019une duret\u00e9 de 176 HV a \u00e9t\u00e9 augment\u00e9e \u00e0 226 HV. Un mod\u00e8le math\u00e9matique \u00e0 \u00e9t\u00e9 entrepris \u00e0 partir d\u2019une \u00e9tude statistique bas\u00e9e sur la m\u00e9thodologie de surface de r\u00e9ponse en utilisant un plan d\u2019exp\u00e9riences composite centr\u00e9 rotatable de deuxi\u00e8me ordre de Box Hunter pour pr\u00e9dire la rugosit\u00e9 et la duret\u00e9 des couches superficielles en fonction des param\u00e8tres de galetage.
