Les calcaires sombres et lamin\u00e9s, riches en microfaune planctonique, en glauconie et en pyrite frambo\u00efdale constituent les faci\u00e8s types pour le passage C\u00e9nomano-Turonien. Ce passage est aussi marqu\u00e9 par un \u00e9v\u00e8nement biologique relatif \u00e0 la pr\u00e9sence des \u00ab filaments \u00bb en masse et l\u2019occurrence de Whiteinella archaeocretacea. Ces niveaux t\u00e9moignent d\u2019un milieu profond pauvre en oxyg\u00e8ne. Les faci\u00e8s turoniens, dat\u00e9s par la pr\u00e9sence de l\u2019esp\u00e8ce- indice\u00a0 d\u2019Helvetoglobotruncana helvetica, comportent la pr\u00e9sence de quelques niveaux siliceux avec la pr\u00e9sence de Radiolaires o\u00f9 les Spumellaires prolif\u00e8rent aux d\u00e9pens des Nassellaires. Les bio\u00e9v\u00e8nements (apparitions, disparitions, prolif\u00e9ration de certains taxons) recens\u00e9s dans la r\u00e9gion d\u2019El Guelb, traduisent des modifications environnementales.
